The Society of American Period Furniture Makers-Great Lakes Chapter is conducting a 2-day workshop at the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) on different aspects of period furniture construction and related historical perspectives. The workshop will be held Saturday, March 16, from 10:00-4:00 pm and Sunday, March 17th from 12:00-4:00 pm. Watch as DIA curators and members of the Society of American Period Furniture Makers walk guests through several period furniture construction techniques, demonstrating how various aspects of actual pieces from the DIA?s American collection were traditionally made. Ongoing demonstrations and hourly talks will be followed by a short tour of works in the American galleries. Email Great Lakes Chapter Coordinator Ed Stuckey for more information.

If this discussion was useful, there are twenty years of them here. Join SAPFM to take part — the forum, the journal, the magazine and the members’ gallery come with membership.
