Just perused my new copy of SAPFM member Tony Kubalak"s new book "Carving 18th Century American Furniture Elements" available from www.amazon.com ($16.47).  I highly recommend it, in that it is a unique, well written book featuring elements found only on American pieces. The book contains numerous color photos and line drawings and makes the carving easy even for a novice.  There are 10 projects that include the following:
1)  Cabriole leg
2)  Philadephia ball and claw foot
3)  Shell on knee carving
4)  Carved foliage on knee
5)  Applied Philadelphia shell
6)  Philadelphia rosette
7)  Philadelphia flame finial with urn
8)  Newport urn and finial
9)  Newport convex shell
10) Newport concave shell
