I am interested in producing a copy of an American Hepplewhite breakfront. I have been unable so far to locate drawings or any working articles either in my personal library or my collection of FWW. I was going to contact the folks at Winterthur, but they are closed until Feb. 28.
I'd be most grateful for any guidance in tracking down info on such a piece. I know that such pieces can vary widely in size, but in my case that is not a serious consideration.

Thanks for the reply. Was I Incorrect in specifically asking about a Hepplewhite breakfront?
I have seen pictures and drawings of some breakfronts referred to as Federal or Sheraton style. Lester Margon's 'American Furniture Treasures' does show an English Hepplewhite breakfront.
Is it possible any of these pieces would be appropriate in a dining room setting where all the other furniture is true Hepplewhite?
The reason I ask is because my intention is to produce an entire dining room suite.
A question on a slightly different topic, if you don't mind.
How did 18th century cabinetmakers support adjustable shelves  in corner cupboards, breakfronts, etc.?

Ed,
Please realize that sets of furniture are a rather modern thing. Most breakfronts are a federal beast. I was asking because there are main regional influences which will change looks. Same general design with different characteristics. The attached picture shows a New England adjustable shelf arrangement I did a few years ago. Notice the period light and glass shelves. No modern conveniences there.
As I was reminded by Joseph check out Hepplewhite's directory reasonable priced from Dover.

Jeff,

I think I know where you're coming from. I think I'll be safe using any appropriate piece from the late 18th century. I am aware about the furniture set issue. The only reason I'm seriously considering it, is I build this furniture in miniature [1" = 1'], and some collectors would like to have the option to furnish a room all at once, rather than one piece at a time.
I am a member of the International Guild of Miniature Artisans, and have been invited to be an exhibitor at their annual show in Teaneck, NJ in Sept.
I liked the picture you posted. I'd like to post some pictures of my work, but perhaps due to my lack of computer skills, I can't seem to locate an icon that will allow me to do this on the forum site. I'm OK doing it on e-mail, as there in an attachment icon on my e-mail page. I hope you can help me.
