I found your website, and saw that your organization seems to have the most information on antique furniture, of any other site I have researched.

I would appreciate any knowledge any of your members, could share with me.

I have been searching for months, to identify the Cabinetmaker of a Slant Front Desk that was left to me from my Father and Mother, after their deaths.
A few weeks before his death, he told me that the desk was the oldest furniture, of all the antiques in the house.

The Desk belonged to my father?s first wife, who was born in 1908, in Springfield, Commonwealth of Massachusetts. I believe she inherited from her family.

The desk has all the markings of being handmade. Dove Tailed top, sides, and drawers. Inside the top drawer, and the back of the desk, certainly looks like handmade tooling.

I have several pictures of the desk if anyone could help identify the cabinetmaker and year, I would really appreciate the knowledge and anything about the cabinetmaker and desk.

I thank you for your consideration

Dixie

Dixie, This looks to be a Governor Winthrop's desk reproduction from the turn of the century up through the 40's. It is hard to tell from the one picture you posted. Please post another of the feet and a picture of the front dovetails of the drawer sides. This might help identifying your piece.

My e-mail is ddt_40@q.com

If I could have your e-mail address, I will send several pictures.

It would be alot better if I could e-mail more Pictures.

Let me hear from you.

Thank you for your interest.

Dixie
