I notice that all of the various scrapers are held in a uniform shaped wooden holder that are all made alike. The scrapers are all then mounted at a specific distance from the stop on the holder. Are those the distances commensurate with the necessary various reliefs of the Goose Neck from a dedicated edge?
Correct. The long handle of the scraper rides on the top of the blank so the height of the scraper blade corresponds to the height above the work board the blank is screwed to of the portion of the molding it cuts. Note that there is a 1/8" groove that captures the edge of the scraper blade to stiffen it. The scrapers then cut the molding from the bottom. For the half round bead, I install a fence the same height as the molding and use a router plane to bring the height of the bead to 1/2". In the next post I will show a side cutting router plane I just completed which should cut the rabbets faster with less risk of jumping off the groove and gouging the work.
