Is chestnut oak a good wood for furniture. A tree was cut and I have the chance to get it but I've never heard of this kind of wood.  Also not sure if its chestnut oak or swampy chestnut oak . its about 18 or 20 inches across. Thanks  Ed

do a google search for "chestnut oak". There were several photos and quite a bit of information. Apparantly it is a type of white oak.
