Like the Dunbar book Federal Furniture mentioned above, a long out of print Taunton book Chairmaking and Design by Jeff Miller has just been reprinted.  The 2nd Edition of this book was published by Linden Publishing (ISBN 1-933502-06-1).

An elementary text on chair construction - but a good one!  Check out your usual online book sources and don't pay more than $16.00!
