I am making a walnut bombe chest similar to the one Ed Stuckey drew plans for. I am thinking about veneering a cross banding around the drawers. I have never seen it done on period pieces but I like the idea. I am wondering what SAPFM members think. Is it a good idea or not worth the trouble?

First of all you will need to post photos of this build....very interesting to use walnut. I think if the drawer fronts are to be veneered then yes on the cross banding If solid then no...Just my two cents, which even with inflation is only worth one cent!

The walnut was from a neighbor. I bought the logs from him and had them sawn up. I had two 12/4 boards and used them for the sides. I sawed the sides on the bandsaw and glued them up, two boards per side.IMG_1127.jpeg

I have seen an english veneered bombe chest like the Stuckey chest with veneered drawers fronts but no feather/cross banding
