I have a tripped planned that allows me a day in DC.  I already have an appointment for touring the Department of State Diplomatic rooms.  I plan to see the Kaufman collection.  Time permitting, I was thinking of the Daughters of American revolution.

Any other suggestions or must sees for a period furniture junkie?

Thanks,

Ken Johnson

How about Jefferson's lap desk at the Smithsonian. I found that worth a special stop over on my way back home (Austin, TX) from the Boston area.

The Carlyle House in Old Town Alexandria is a nice museum. Check out their upholstered bed canopy. Also while in old town visit Sumpter Priddy III Inc. He sells so he might not be the most responsive to cabinetmakers but his inventory is exceptional. Of course Mount Vernon and then check with your representative from congress for an appointment to visit The White House. There are many outlying homes and museums to visit. Baltimore has many options also. You need to spend a week. Or two!
